A talented young West Lothian golfer is celebrating after winning the United Arab Emirates World Junior Golf Championship.

Greenburn Golf Club member Dominic McGlinchey won the event at the Alhambra Golf Club with rounds of 78,74 and 71 and taking the title by a margin of 13 shots. The tournament was open to junior golfers under 19 years of age and the win is a fantastic achievement for 15-year-old Dominic who lives with his mum and dad in Doha where his dad Gary is the General Manager of Doha Golf.

Greenburn captain June Close said: “Golf obviously runs in the blood of the McGlinchey family with his well- known golfing grandfather Brian McGlinchey winning Greenburn Club Championship no less than 11 times and scoring his hole in one at the tender age of eight years of age.”

Heaping praise on the teenager for his dedication to his sport, June added: “Dominic works very hard and is totally committed to his golf and all at Greenburn wish him every success in the future.”
